Rupee For Thoughts
On Thursday the 13th of December was the last GNCT session for the first year. We did an interesting game. It is called "Rupee For Thoughts".
First our madam collected a coin from each students. And got a purse from a student. Then she put all coins into the purse. Then the purse was passed from one person to another. When our madam tapped on the table, We had to stop passing the purse and the person who is holding the purse must take a coin from the purse and the person had to talk about his/her memories related to the year of the coin. Most of the people got years of 2016,2013 and 2004 coins. Most people said their funny memories.
Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to speak on my memories. But I planned If I got year of 2016 coin, I could have talked about my G.C.E A/L examination. Because I did my A/L in 2016.
If I got year of 2013 coin, I could have talked about my O/L results because I received my G.C.E O/L results in 2013. If I got year of 2004 coin, I could have talked about Tsunami disaster. Because It was unforgettable event in every srilankan.
Finally we filled our first year GNCT session with knowledge, happiness and our memories also.

Leadership
On Thursday the 29th day of November 2018. We had an interesting session on leadership.
But unfortunately I didn't participate that day's lecture. Anyway I asked from my friends and got ideas.
Our madam tough different types of leaders, their qualities and how an actual leader should act. And we also need leadership qualities. We must be leaders of ourselves.
When talking about myself, the leader who inspired me is "Nelson Mandela".
Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country's first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.
Nelson Mandela demonstrated remarkable leadership qualities:
- He was a man of peace.
- He had a powerful presence and disarmed enemies with his smile.
- He showed the world what forgiveness looks like.
- He was positive, thinking about what could be.
- He was a visionary and could see the big picture.
- He was focused on goals and a mission beyond himself.
- He had remarkable endurance.
- He showed grit and determination.
- He was humble.
- He was full of hope, not hate.
- He was patient.
Describing who he was and what he did is powerful. Perhaps, even more important, was what he didn’t do.
He held no bitterness.
He did not seek revenge.
He did not seek self-glory.
He didn’t hide his faults or failings.
As we boarded the ferry to return to Cape Town, I watched Robben Island disappear from view.
I felt changed somehow. Motivated and inspired by an imperfect man, who suffered for his dreams and yet never lost hope.
“
I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying. –Nelson Mandela
Aspiring leaders everywhere should take the time to study this man, his accomplishments, and the characteristics that helped mold a country and the world.
“
“It is not where you start but how high you aim that matters for success.” –Nelson Mandela

Barter Puzzle
On Thursday the 4th day of October 2018, for our GNCT session we had an interesting activity as usual. It’s called “Barter Puzzle”. First we were divided into several groups by our madam. One from each team was went to the lecturer’s table and all were given a piece of calendar card.
We were asked to cut that card into 90 small pieces. After our madam put the pieces into a separate envelopes and small number of pieces were jumbled in other team’s envelopes. First we didn’t have any idea.
The task we were given was to find out our teams missing parts from other teams and to complete the puzzle first.
For we first had to search our missing pieces. We found the pieces hard to set the puzzle. And due to this we couldn’t finish it with in the time duration. So we numbered the pieces in order then we continued the same task on next week the 11th day of October.
We were completed the puzzle by 80% and from this activity we learnt many things. And every group each member went to the white board and wrote “What are the things we learnt from this session”. Such as team work, creativity, time management etc
